First Look: New 2026 Chery QQ3 looks poised to take on the UK-bound Geely EX2

Chinese auto group Chery, which also markets cars under the Omoda and Jaecoo brands in the UK, plans to relaunch an infamous nameplate, the Chery QQ3, in 2026. While the debut market is set to be China, and an official confirmation pending, we’re certain that Chery is exploring a global sales strategy for this B-segment model.

A few weeks ago, we had a chance to experience the new Geely EX2 rival in person (branded simply as the ‘QQ’) to understand its design, features and other aspects in detail. Here are the key observations we made:

Design

While Chery has yet to reveal the positioning and dimensions, a recent report from NetEase indicates that the new QQ3 is a B-segment hatchback. In person, however, the QQ’s stance and proportions lean closer to a compact crossover.

Chery QQ Concept (2026 Chery QQ3) front three quarters
The all-new 2026 Chery QQ3 focuses on space and practicality, with an original design. We found the detailing on the wheels and headlamps quite friendly!

The reborn Chery QQ3 is not inspired by designs like the Chevrolet Spark. Instead, it adopts a slightly boxy silhouette seemingly shaped around interior room, softened by rounded design elements.

The headlamps, bonnet, and side mirrors have soft radii and a large footprint. A largely blank closed panel with a concave lower section draws attention to the vehicle’s width, with a focus on simplicity.

From the side, the design appears upright and utilitarian rather than dynamic. The roofline slopes only gently, the body sides lack sharp creases, and the fidget spinner-inspired wheels do not fully fill the arches, all of which contribute to a somewhat flat profile.

The chunky C-pillar, the black wheel arch cladding and door moulding, and the boxy shape of the upper half of the body blur the QQ3’s intended character, leaving it caught between a hatchback and a small SUV without fully committing to either. That said, we can see this design catching on with many customers who don’t want another SUV-inspired city vehicle.

At the rear, the tailgate has a simple design with clean surfacing and features a block-lettered brand inscription. We found the tail lamps reminiscent of the first-generation Citroen C5 Aircross.

Interior

The interior of the all-new Chery QQ3 has a modern and organised look. The dashboard and the slim AC vents integrated into it, as well as the centre pad of the compact two-spoke steering wheel, have a curvy profile, matching the rounded theme of the exterior.

A wide digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch 2K touchscreen infotainment system have been attached to the dashboard, giving them a floating look.

The centre console houses a row of key physical controls in the front and offers a long open storage space at the bottom. Both front seats come with electric adjustment and heating, and the driver’s seat includes memory and ventilation functions as well.

Specifications

According to a report from Autohome, Chery has developed the all-new QQ3 on a ‘T12’ dedicated EV platform. The small EV has a noticeably long wheelbase exceeding 2,700 mm, but its other dimensions have yet to be revealed. It reportedly features a multi-link independent rear suspension for enhanced comfort and is powered by a rear-mounted 90 kW (121 bhp) motor.

The NetEase report suggests that the all-new Chery QQ3 is ready for mass production and could go on sale in China in early 2026. The Chinese automaker has yet to announce plans to bring the revived QQ3 to the UK or other European markets, but when it does, we expect it to be a value buy.
