Globally, the Xpeng G6 has become a stronger Tesla Model Y rival following the facelift, and the updated version is set to arrive in the UK in early 2026.
We recently had the opportunity to get up close and personal with the new Xpeng G6 overseas in a global-spec version. Here are some interesting observations that we made:
Design
The new Xpeng G6 has the same proportions as the current model on sale, and largely carries over its sci-fi look as well. Visual changes are subtle and yet, at least in the UK, where Xpeng released the G6 in February, the design still feels fresh.


Xpeng has redesigned the G6 to accommodate a full-width daytime running light ahead of the bonnet. Called ‘Starlight’, the new light bar is 1,942 mm wide, lending the EV a wider look. The Xpeng logo now lies on the bonnet and carries a matte grey finish.
The 20-inch alloy wheels carry a new look aimed at lending the G6 a touch of funky styling, and they are also available in an all-black finish. We also noticed that Xpeng has removed the black cladding on the wheel arches to give the vehicle a cleaner look. A new rear spoiler positioned above the tail lamps increases the overall length by 5 mm and gives the vehicle a sportier styling.
Interior


A minimalist, highly digital interior aims to give the new Xpeng G6 a neat and high-tech appearance on the inside. A redesigned dashboard carries a slimmer and flatter look, integrates more conventional air vents, and features a full-width chrome strip in the middle.
A floating 10.25-inch driver information display replaces the 10.2-inch unit that came integrated into the dashboard in the old model. Similarly, there’s a floating 15.6-inch central touchscreen in place of the 14.96-inch unit that stood on the dashboard in the latter. Also new is a 9-inch digital rear-view mirror, available in the middle and top variants.

Xpeng has used a new wood-grain dashboard trim to give the interior of the facelifted G6 a more upmarket feel. The latest model also features new ambient lighting designs on the door panels and front dashboard for a more sophisticated appearance. A new massage function in the front seats improves comfort and makes long journeys less tiring.
Experience in the Xpeng G6
Getting into and out of the Xpeng G6 was easy for me at 5’7″, both in the front and the rear. I noticed the doors use a push-button unlocking system similar to what many modern luxury models offer. The taller body also helped with ingress and egress.
Once I settled into the driver’s seat, I noticed abundant headroom that would suit taller occupants as well. Under-thigh support and lumbar support felt good. Rear diagonal visibility looked limited, mainly due to the thick C-pillar and the small rear quarter glass.


I liked the feel and quality of the physical controls, although there were not many of them. The infotainment interface appeared colourful at first, but the system felt user-friendly and ran smoothly. Upholstery across the dashboard, seats, and doors looked premium and felt good to the touch.
In the rear, the flat floor helped make the cabin feel open. The rear seat backrest reclines, but the default angle felt comfortable, and I had more than enough headroom.
Under-thigh support and lumbar support felt good, and I did not notice any shortage of legroom or knee room. The centre rear position also felt more usable than usual due to the flat floor and the wider centre section of the bench.
Specifications
Xpeng has announced the new 2026 G6 for the UK in Standard Range RWD, Long Range RWD, and Performance AWD variants.
The base variant has a rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor that develops 185 kW (248 bhp) and 440 Nm (325 lb.-ft.) of torque, while the middle variant upgrades to a higher-output PMSM producing 218 kW (292 bhp) and 440 Nm (325 lb.-ft.) of torque.
The top variant combines the latter with an additional PMSM that is located at the front and generates 140 kW (188 bhp) and 220 Nm (162 lb.-ft.) of torque.


The new G6 accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 6.94 seconds in the Standard Range RWD variant, 6.7 seconds in the Long Range RWD variant, and 4.13 seconds in the Performance AWD variant.
The base variant has a 68.5 kWh LFP battery pack that delivers a WLTP range of 292 miles, while the middle and top variants share an 80.8 kWh LFP battery pack that gives them a WLTP range of 326 miles and 316 miles, respectively.
The 68.5 kWh LFP battery pack supports charging at up to an impressive 382 kW, while the 80.8 kWh LFP battery pack can accept charging at up to a whopping 451 kW. Both charge from 10% to 80% as quickly as 12 minutes.

The 2026 Xpeng G6 costs GBP 39,990 in the Standard RWD variant, GBP 44,990 in the Long Range RWD variant, and GBP 49,990 in the Performance AWD variant. Xpeng plans to commence deliveries of the new G6 in the UK in the first quarter of 2026 (January-March 2026).
