The Aion UT, which will reach the UK market as the brand’s second offering here towards the end of 2026, was present at the 2026 International Automotive and Supply Chain Expo (Hong Kong) in an interesting variant that has UK potential, giving us a chance to experience its design and features in person.
The example shown was the sporty ‘Ultra’ model, which is based on the Hong Kong-spec Premium variant. The Ultra version adds special exterior features such as a front skirt, side skirts, diffuser-styled rear bumper, black cross-spoke alloy wheels, and black exterior accents.
The display car also gets a contrasting black roof and exclusive badging, helping separate it from the standard Premium variant. It also has a different look from the other customised UT examples we have seen before, including the race-inspired version and the stealthier matte-black car, and can work in the UK for a future model year.
The Premium variant measures 4,270 mm long, 1,850 mm wide and 1,575 mm tall. It rides on a 2,750 mm wheelbase, has five seats and a kerb weight of 1,700 kg.
Power comes from a 150 kW electric motor producing 210 Nm of torque. The Aion UT uses a front-wheel-drive layout, and the standee lists a MacPherson strut independent front suspension and a torsion beam rear suspension.
A 60 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery provides a claimed range of 500 km under the NEDC test cycle. Again, this figure is for the market version shown in Hong Kong, not the UK model.
For the UK, Aion has so far suggested a WLTP range of up to 268 miles. Aion also claims the battery can be charged from 30 to 80 percent in 18 minutes using a DC fast charger, adding up to 214 miles of range in under 20 minutes. UK battery capacity, grade structure and final equipment details are yet to be confirmed.
The Ultra variant does not have interior changes over the Premium model. The central screen measures 14.6 inches, while the driver’s instrument cluster is 8.8 inches. GAC says the Aion UT was developed with input from its Milan design studio.
In Britain, the model is likely to compete with the MG4 EV and BYD Dolphin. UK pricing has not yet been announced. However, we expect entry-level versions to be priced between £28,000 and £30,000.
In June 2026, GAC Aion UK, through its partnership with Jameel Motors, handed the keys to its first customer. The handover took place at Aion Swansea, operated by Bassetts, and the car was a white Aion V.
