First Look: Alpine A110 Future tech demonstrator feels promising

The Alpine A110 Future made its dynamic public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026, where we watched the development prototype tackle the famous hillclimb with BWT Alpine Formula One Team driver Pierre Gasly at the wheel.

Rather than previewing the final production car’s styling, the prototype demonstrated the technology that will underpin the third-generation Alpine A110, which is scheduled to arrive in 2027.

We also got up close with the car at the First Glance Paddock, and here’s what we learned about the electric sports car project.

Design

The A110 Future is a development prototype rather than a near-production concept, with its body heavily disguised to conceal the final design. Its purpose is to validate new hardware and engineering solutions under real-world driving conditions before the production model reaches the road.

Beneath the camouflage is Alpine’s new Alpine Performance Platform (APP). Developed specifically for the brand’s future electric sports cars, the aluminium architecture will make its production debut on the next-generation A110 and form the basis of future Alpine performance models.

Interior

Alpine has not revealed the interior of the A110 Future, as the prototype is focused on testing its electric platform and powertrain. The booth officials told us there was nothing to see inside!

The production model is expected to retain the current A110’s two-seat layout while introducing a new cabin designed around Alpine’s first dedicated electric sports car platform.

Specifications

The next-gen A110 will use a dual rear-motor electric powertrain combined with Active Torque Vectoring 2.0.

An 800-volt battery is split between the front and rear of the vehicle in a 25:75 configuration. Alpine says this layout helps maintain a low seating position while enhancing chassis rigidity by housing a cell-to-pack battery in a high-pressure die-cast aluminium casing.

The rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motors operate at up to 21,500 rpm and are controlled by silicon carbide inverters. The powertrain also incorporates Wheel Slip Torque Control, torque pre-control and 400-volt boost charging, with the electronic systems working together to improve traction and reduce understeer.

Price & Availability

The third-generation Alpine A110 is expected to enter production in 2027, although Alpine has not yet confirmed pricing or detailed model specifications.
