In a round of announcements today, Ather Energy introduced a buyback program and various option packs for the Ather 450 Plus and Ather 450X. The company is gearing up to start customer deliveries of both the Ather electric scooters next month.
Ather 450 Plus/Ather 450X buyback program
Under the buyback program, Ather Energy is guaranteeing a buyback value of up to 50% depending on the model. Customers buying the Ather 450X, which costs INR 1,59,000 (ex-showroom, incl. GST & FAME II subsidy), can sell it back to the company at the end of three years at INR 85,000. For the Ather 450 Plus, which costs INR 1,39,990 (ex-showroom Bengaluru, incl. GST & FAME II subsidy), the guaranteed buyback amount after the same period is INR 75,000. In the case of both Ather 450 Plus and Ather 450X, the customer shouldn’t have ridden the vehicle over 30,000 km in this period.
Ather Energy has also said that it is not that the value of the Ather electric scooters would fall steeply – by 46% (Ather 450 Plus) or 50% (Ather 450X). The company is confident that both models would fetch a higher resale value in the market. The buyback program is meant for the assurance about a hassle-free resale and peace of mind three years into the ownership and is not about getting the maximum resale value.
Ather Energy also announced two option packs this morning – Ather Connect and Ather Service – in two versions – Lite and Pro. As their names explain, the Ather Connect and Ather Service option packs are for the connected vehicle features and vehicle services respectively. All the packs are available for both the scooters, and the same prices are applicable for both the scooters.

In other updates, Ather Energy said that it will offer free charging at Ather Grid charging points until March 2021. The company has also revealed that it plans to offer a lease option in all the 9 new cities it plans to enter this financial year.
