Ather Energy has slashed the price of the Ather 450 Plus by INR 9,010. The most affordable Ather electric scooter now costs INR 1,39,990. Just for reference, the company had introduced it in January at INR 1,49,000 (Ex-showroom Bengaluru, incl. GST & FAME II subsidy).
Ravneet Phokela, Chief Business Officer of Ather Energy, has confirmed to ElectricVehicleWeb.in that the 450 Plus is technically the same and that the company has not downgraded the technical specifications of the base electric scooter.
Phokela disclosed to us that the 450 Plus has a slightly smaller battery pack compared to the Ather 450X. While the Ather 450X uses a 2.9 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack, the Ather 450 Plus features a 2.7 kWh Lithium-ion battery. He has also given us the range of the Ather 450 Plus as per the Indian Drive Cycle (IDC) – 100 km. The company expects the base electric scooter to deliver a range of 70 km realistically, which is identical to the outgoing Ather 450.

The Ather 450 Plus is technically the same as the Ather 450X, but it has lower performance parameters. Its motor generates 5.4 kW (7.3 PS) of power and 22 Nm of torque. The user can choose from three modes on the Ather 450 Plus: Sport, Ride and Eco. A 0-40 km/h sprint takes 3.9 seconds.
Like the 450X, the 450 Plus supports fast charging at Ather Grid. Charging for 10 minutes using an Ather Grid fast charger gives a range of 10 km. The Plus model doesn’t have Bluetooth, and so, it doesn’t support Ather Energy’s TPMS and Smart Helmet accessories that will go on sale next year.
The deliveries of the 450 Plus will begin at the same time as the 450X – November. This date applies to Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Kochi, Kolkata and Ahmedabad. Delhi and Mumbai will have to wait until December, while deliveries in Coimbatore and Kozikhode will commence between January and March next year.
Ather Energy is taking bookings for the 450 Plus and 450X with a deposit of INR 2,500 now, and it will allow customers to pay the remaining amount from 31 October 2020.
