After unveiling the scooter at the EV Expo in Delhi in December 2019, Benling India has launched the Aura electric scooter this week priced at Rs 99,000 on-road Bangalore, with an operating cost of about 20 paise/km. The Aura is the company’s first high-speed model for the company which has three low-speed scooters – Kriti, Icon and Falcon.
The Benling Aura is powered by a detachable 72V/40Ah lithium-ion battery that powers a 1200W BLDC electric motor. In a single charge, the scooter will give a claimed range of 90-100 km with a top speed of 60 km/hour.
The detachable battery gets charged to its full capacity in four hours through a regular household power socket. The Aura tips the scales at 95 kg and has a ground clearance of 165 mm, much better than most of the scooters. Notable features include remote keyless system, USB charging, anti-theft alarm and rear-wheel integrated locking system.
One of the defining features of Benling Aura as per the company is the Breakdown Smart Assistance System (BSAS). In case of a breakdown, the BSAS allows the scooter to be restarted and run for around 15 to 20 km at low speed at the touch of a button. The Aura will also be equipped with Benling’s Smart Parking Assistance feature, which will stop the scooter from moving when activated, kind of like a parking brake.
Benling India launched its operations in May 2019. The firm has launched three low-speed models – Kriti, Icon and Falcon – that come with a range of 70 to 75 km.
