First Look Review: Everything new in the 2026 BYD Atto 3 (Facelift)

The BYD Atto 3 Evo is now on sale in the UK, and the updated model features revised styling and a few interior changes.

Following the older model last year, spent some time with the facelifted Atto 3 in a global-spec form, and here are the differences that we experienced.

Design

The facelift introduces BYD’s revised front-end design, updated front and rear bumpers, slimmer side skirts, a revised rear spoiler and new 18-inch alloy wheels. On the sides, the contrast trim piece on the lower door features a slightly different design, while the quarter glass panel and bezel look more streamlined.

At the rear, the SUV receives LED taillamps with a Chinese-knot lighting signature, while the bumper and skid plate have been revised for a sharper look. The roof spoiler also appears bigger and sportier than before, and is a highlight at the rear.

Interior

You don’t have to look closely to see the interior changes. The driver display has been upgraded to 8.8 inches. The 15.6-inch central touchscreen remains, although BYD has moved away from the rotating display used in the earlier Atto 3, with the screen now fixed in landscape orientation.

The gear selector has also moved from the centre console to a column-mounted stalk behind the new steering wheel. A new 50W wireless smartphone charger with an integrated cooling fan has been added to the cleaner centre console, which we felt was a practical switch.

The feature list includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a head-up display, ambient lighting, heated front seats, heated rear seats, four USB-C ports, panoramic sunroof, and a heat pump.

The infotainment system now comes with Google built-in, including Google Maps, Google Play Store and Google Assistant. The voice assistant has been upgraded with AI support, allowing more natural voice commands.

Boot capacity increases to 490 litres. Folding the rear seats expands luggage capacity to 1,360 litres. A new 101-litre front trunk provides additional storage space.

Specifications

The Atto 3 Evo brings significant mechanical changes over the outgoing model. It adopts the latest version of BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 and switches from front-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive in Design form, while the Excellence adds all-wheel drive.

The rear suspension also moves from a four-link layout to a five-link system, which BYD says improves ride and handling. Both versions use a 74.8 kWh Blade Battery with LFP chemistry and Cell-to-Body construction.

The rear-wheel-drive variant, called the Design, produces 313 PS (230 kW) and 380 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 5.5 seconds and delivers a WLTP range of up to 317 miles.

The all-wheel-drive Excellence adds a front motor, increasing total output to 449 PS (330 kW) and 560 Nm of torque. The 0-62 mph sprint drops to 3.9 seconds, while WLTP range stands at 292 miles.

The Atto 3 Evo adopts an 800V electrical architecture and supports DC charging at up to 220 kW. A 10-80% charge takes 25 minutes, while an 11 kW AC charge from 0-100% takes eight hours. Vehicle-to-Load capability, rated at up to 3.3 kW, and a 1,500 kg braked towing capacity are standard across the range.

Driver assistance systems include adaptive cruise control, intelligent cruise control, blind spot detection, lane departure assist, front and rear collision warning, front and rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition and intelligent speed limit control.

Price

The revised BYD Atto 3 is available in the UK in Design and Excellence trims. Pricing starts at GBP 38,990 for the rear-wheel-drive Design variant, while the all-wheel-drive Excellence starts at GBP 42,730.

At these prices, the Atto 3 Evo competes with models such as the Kia EV3, Renault Scenic E-Tech, Skoda Elroq, Volvo EX30 and MG S5 EV.
