First Look: Changan E06, the UK-bound Skoda Elroq challenger

Following the recently launched Deepal S07 and the Deepal S05 due in early 2026, Changan will expand its SUV line-up in the UK with a Skoda Elroq rival called the ‘E06’ in 2027, as confirmed by the brand to Autocar UK.

We had a chance to closely examine the exterior of the Changan E06 in person at the Thai Motor Expo 2025, where it was parked at the Changan Deepal stall branded “New Model.”

Design

The Changan E06 will appeal to the young buyer with its sharp and sporty exterior. The bumper and bonnet feature a sculpted look, complemented by slim and curvy daytime running lights. As is the norm with modern EVs, a light band forms a visual link between the DRLs, although there is a noticeable gap between these strips.

The DRLs feature a three-eye design for a sporty look, while the low- and main-beam lights are positioned below in a separate, trapezoidal enclosure in the lower section of the bumper. An active grille further below in the fascia serves the cooling needs of the EV’s core components, and visually, it makes the design feel more everyday and approachable.

The side profile has a similar smooth sculpting on the doors and quarter panels and is completely devoid of any sharp creases, continuing the fluidic look seen at the front. The curvy side mirrors, sleek greenhouse, and gently sloping roofline with a floating effect further enhance styling. At the rear, the E06 features tail lamps spanning almost the entire width, a raked windscreen, and a sporty roof spoiler.

Interior

Like nearly every new Chinese EV on the market, the Changan E06 has a minimalist and highly digital interior. A horizontal dashboard features two slim displays and AC vents in a convex middle layer, where the panel flaunts the strongest visual connection with the front door panels for a cohesive look.

A bridge-type centre console integrates two additional AC vents for the front passengers and has another AC vent at the back, for the rear passengers. There’s a large open storage area below the front section of this panel, enough to keep a grocery bag. In total, the cabin offers 29 different storage places.

Changan equips the E06 with a host of premium comfort features, such as eight-way (driver)/ten-way (passenger) power adjustable front seats with an eight-point massage function, heating and ventilation, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, and a reclining rear seat. The front passenger seat comes with a two-way power-adjustable leg rest as well.

Specifications

The Changan E06 measures 4,435 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height and has a 2,735 mm wheelbase. It is a front-wheel drive EV with a permanent magnet synchronous motor that produces 120 kW (161 bhp) and 190 Nm (140 lb.-ft.) of torque and gives a top speed of 160 km/h (99 mph).

Changan offers the E06 with 40.3 kWh and 51.9 kWh LFP battery pack options in China. In the UK, we expect Changan to offer the latter. According to CLTC, the E06 can travel 252 miles with the 40.3 kWh battery pack and 314 miles with the 51.9 kWh battery pack. In the UK, we expect the latter to deliver a WLTP range of somewhere between 255 and 270 miles.

Price

We expect the Changan E06 to start at around GBP 30,000. In addition to the Skoda Elroq, it will compete with the BYD Atto 3, MG S5 EV, and the Hyundai Kona Electric.
