Citroen e-Relay UK customer deliveries begin in September

On August 25, 2021, Citroen launched the new e-Relay electric LCV in the UK, joining the company’s extensive e-LCV lineup. The Citroen is available exclusively in one full-spec, Enterprise trim allowing for full functionality in its Relay lineup of vans.

Design

The Citroen e-Relay in terms of design forms the basis of what vans look like. A large windshield, sleek headlamps, and black plastic bumper form the front of the van. As for the rest, the e-Relay will be available in three body styles: Panel Van, Window Van and Chassis Cab. Each of these also gets its own length configurations.

While the Panel Van will be available in L2 (5,413 mm), L3 (5,998 mm) and L4 (6,363 mm), the Chassis Cab will be available in L3 format and the Window Van in only the L4 length. The e-Relay also gets 15 cubic metres of load volume with a payload capacity of 1,150 kg. The battery pack is located under the van’s floor, allowing for full use of the van’s space.

Powertrain

Options here are limited to the size of the van. The Panel Van will be the only variant available in the L2 variant and, as such, will be the only body style to feature the 37 kWh battery pack. This battery pack gets a WLTP certified range of 73 miles on a full charge. The other body styles and lengths are available, with an option between a 37 kWh battery and a 70 kWh battery pack. The larger one is capable of a WLTP range of 139 miles on the L3 and L4 lengths.

Charging

The Citroen e-Relay comes standard with a Type-2 charging cable and supports up to 22 kW. A 7 kW wallbox takes 6 hours to charge the 37 kWh battery from zero to full. Similarly, the 70 kWh battery pack takes 12 hours for a 0-100 per cent charge. Both battery packs also support 50 kW rapid charging tech.

Features

As mentioned earlier, the e-Relay is available exclusively in the Enterprise trim, bringing a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, satellite navigation, DAB radio, and a new rear-view mirror attached with a display for key vehicle information such as range and battery charge level.
