Does this custom MG S5 EV pull off a Chrome Silver wrap?

Sporty isn’t the first word that comes to mind when one sees the MG S5 EV, given its SUV body style and practical design.

However, we spotted a customised unit when we travelled to the 2026 Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show, proving that the electric SUV does have visual tuning potential.

Exterior

The custom MG S5 EV is finished in a chrome silver shade, which immediately gives it a street-racer-inspired look. Fluorescent yellow accents on the bumpers, rocker panels, mirror caps, roof rails, and wheel centre caps provide a strong contrast and add to the sportier appearance.

White six-spoke alloy wheels lend the custom MG S5 EV a rally-inspired styling. “We’re trying to display (that) even EV itself can be like a rally car,” one official told us at the booth.

Interior

The interior of the custom MG S5 EV is largely unchanged from the standard model. MG has used aftermarket ambient lighting in the cabin to make it more appealing for Asian customers, with light strips attached to the upper door cards and the dashboard.

The compact SUV features a minimalist design, with a sleek dashboard that curves into the front door panels, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Specifications

The custom MG S5 EV has no changes to the powertrain, battery pack, or any other core components. It features a 62 kWh LFP battery pack that powers a rear-mounted motor producing 151 kW (202 bhp) and 350 Nm (258 lb.-ft.) of torque.

This setup gives it a 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration time of 7.0 seconds and a WLTP range of 446 kilometres (277 miles). The 62 kWh LFP battery pack supports charging at up to 7 kW (AC)/150 kW (DC).

Price

The custom MG S5 EV is only a marketing exercise and not intended for commercial launch. In the UK, the compact electric SUV’s prices start at GBP 28,995 and go up to GBP 33,995.
