First Look: Denza Z has the looks, features, specs & appeal covered!

We got a close look at the Denza Z at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026, where BYD’s premium brand unveiled its first production-bound electric supercar for the UK and Europe.

The Z has been confirmed for Europe and will be offered in Coupe, Spider and Racing forms, alongside a track-focused Special Edition that is being developed for a Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record attempt later this year.

Built on Denza’s new e3 (e-cube) Sports Car Platform, every version uses a tri-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain with one front motor and two independently controlled rear motors for active torque vectoring.

Combined output stands at 1,604 PS (1,180 kW) and 1,240 Nm, enabling a claimed 0-100 km/h time of 2.25 seconds in the Coupe, while the Racing version reduces this to 1.96 seconds when fitted with optional semi-slick tyres. Top speed ranges from 300 km/h to 350 km/h, depending on the variant.

The Coupe and Spider measure 4,780 mm long, while the Racing model grows to 4,870 mm thanks to additional aerodynamic components.

The track-focused version features a larger front air intake, carbon-fibre splitter, underfloor aerodynamic elements and an optional three-position carbon-fibre rear wing capable of generating up to 1,060 kg of downforce at 350 km/h.

The Special Edition goes further with carbon-fibre body panels, an active front diffuser and an adjustable rear wing flap, producing more than 2,000 kg of downforce at 300 km/h.

Inside, the Z combines an 8.88-inch digital instrument display with a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen featuring Google built-in, wireless smartphone charging and a digital rear-view mirror.

The steering wheel includes dedicated Boost and Track buttons, while Devialet supplies a 12-speaker audio system in the Coupe and Racing models and a 10-speaker setup in the Spider. A four-seat layout is standard, although the Racing version can be specified with a roll cage in place of the rear seats.

Power comes from BYD’s second-generation 76 kWh Blade battery, which delivers a WLTP range of up to 410 km in the Coupe, 400 km in the Spider and 380 km in the Racing.

The battery supports BYD’s new Flash Charging technology, allowing a 10-70% recharge in five minutes and a 10-97% recharge in nine minutes when connected to compatible 1,500 kW infrastructure.

The chassis combines double wishbone front suspension with a five-link rear axle and DiSus-M magnetorheological dampers. The Coupe and Spider use air suspension, while the Racing model adopts coil springs.

Carbon-ceramic brakes are standard across the range, and the Z also introduces features including tyre burst control, a compass-turn function and configurable Track mode with launch control, drift mode and adjustable torque distribution.

Orders for the Denza Z Coupe, Spider and Racing have opened in selected markets, with first customer deliveries expected before the end of 2026. Pricing for Europe has yet to be announced.
