Last week, Detel, the Indian startup that focuses on gadgets, launched the Easy electric moped at INR 19,999. The company claims that this is the country’s most affordable electric two-wheeler and says that it sold out the first stock (of about 1,100 units) in just 48 hours.
The Detel Easy features a very basic design, although there’s not much one can expect in that aspect given the rock-bottom price. It measures 1,570 mm in length, 620 mm in width and 1,050 mm in height. No driving license or vehicle registration to drive this low-speed electric moped.
The Detel Easy has a 48V, 12 Ah (0.58 kWh) Lithium-ion battery and a 250-watt (0.25 kW) motor. The charger is a 48V/50 Hz unit and allows filling up the battery in 7-8 hours. The Detel Easy has a top speed of 25 km/h. Its range “under ideal condition” is 60 km. The electric moped weighs 56 kg without battery. Its electric motor’s controller is a vector sine wave unit.
Detel offers a 1-year warranty on the motor, controller and charger of the Easy electric moped and a 3-year warranty on its battery. Three colour options are available: Pearl White, Metallic Red and Jet Black. The company is taking bookings with a deposit of INR 1,999 and promising deliveries in the month of October.
