First Look: Royal Blue Exeed Exlantix ET9 EREV has Maybach-style touches

Multiple British media reports have it on good authority that Chery Auto’s Exeed brand is headed to the UK by 2026. One of its more interesting models sold internationally is an extended-range electric SUV called the Exlantix ET9. Recently, I had a chance to take a close look at the EREV’s exterior in a classy royal blue/gloss black two-tone colour scheme, and here’s what I observed.

Design

Full-width front and rear lights and unusually tall Euro-inspired styling cues along the sides hit me first when I walked up to the Exeed Exlantix ET9. While the SUV is designed to a budget, it still makes a strong visual impression.

At the front, the sleek headlamps that are linked by a continuous DRL strip carry an aggressive look, while the covered upper fascia features flush-integrated chrome bars, which attempt to give off a sense of grandeur. Vertical fins lower down conceal the functional grille, continuing the design theme.

I felt that the side profile is strikingly similar to the Mercedes-Maybach GLS. Besides the paint scheme, the body’s proportions, the shape of the greenhouse, and the chrome surrounds of the greenhouse feel like the German SUV was a big inspiration for its design.

The flush-fitted roof bars, gloss black B-pillar, unique multi-spoke alloy wheels, and a side-facing camera on the front quarter panels are among the other noteworthy design bits here. The rear has been kept upright to maximise interior space. The coast-to-coast tail lamp arrangement looks a little gaudy in my view, and the design itself lacks originality.

Interior

The Exeed Exlantix ET9, introduced globally as the Chery Fulwin T11, has a premium interior with an elegantly designed dashboard, a two-spoke steering wheel, a high-set, bridge-type centre console featuring BMW-inspired crystal glass applications in a rotary dial and switches, diamond quilted seat upholstery, and discreet ambient lighting. The cabin accommodates six people in a comfort-oriented 2+2+2 seating layout.

The front seats offer 8-way (driver)/6-way (passenger) power adjustment, 4-way power lumbar support, and three-position memory, 10-point massage, heating, and ventilation functions. The second-row seats feature 14-way power adjustment, 4-way power lumbar support, and three-position memory, 10-point massage, heating, and ventilation functions. The third-row seats come with electrically reclining backrests and a heating function.

The Exlantix ET9 features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 30-inch 6K ultra-wide infotainment display that extends toward the front passenger. Its main highlight on the digitalisation front is a 17.3-inch 3K rear entertainment screen that folds down from the roof, though.
