Fiat e-Ulysse & Fiat e-Scudo EVs – Everything we know as of Dec 2021

The Fiat Ulysse MPV (1994-2002) and the Fiat Scudo commercial vehicle (1996-2016) are making a comeback, and this time around, they will be available with 100% electric power optionally. The electric variants are called Fiat e-Ulysse and Fiat e-Scudo, respectively.

The 2022 Fiat e-Ulysse and the 2022 Fiat e-Scudo share the EMP2 platform that already underpins many different models from the Stellantis umbrella, including the Peugeot e-Expert and the Citroen e-Jumpy (Citroen e-Dispatch). They have the same body and features as the Peugeot and Citroen vans and differ only with unique front fascias. In addition to a new brand logo, they feature tweaked headlights and a distinctive upper grille. The horizontal LED DRLs in the fog lamp housings are also new.

2022 Fiat e-Scudo

The e-Scudo will be available in three versions – Van, Crew Cab and Cab with platform – with trim levels encompassing Tecnico and Business.

Specifications

Order books for the 2022 Scudo EV (and diesel variants) are now open in the UK. Fiat will retail two powertrain variants of the Scudo EV: the base variant gets a 50 kWh battery whereas the high-end model sees a 75 kWh battery. Both variants will feature up to 6.6 m3 loading bays with a payload of 1.4 tonne and a towing capacity of 1 tonne.

Fiat has not detailed the specifications, but has spoken about a 136 hp electric motor with a range of up to 205 miles (WLTP). The Scudo EV is unlikely to see a twin motor setup, so we reckon both battery sizes to offer the single motor 136 hp, with the smaller 50 kWh good for around 140 miles (similar to the e-Expert and e-Jumpy). The e-Scudo will see AC charging up to 11 kW and up to 100 kW DC charging with only 45 minutes needed for a quick charge to 80 per cent.

The Scudo EV offers a height of up to 1.9 meters with length options of 5 meters and 5.3 meters (Maxi version). Taking advantage of the ‘Moduwork’ system which transforms the passenger seat into a workstation and offers an extension of the load compartment, the Scudo EV can transport items of up to 4 meters in length (Maxi version).

Interior & Safety

On the comfort front, Fiat says the e-Scudo offers ‘car like’ comfort thanks to ‘top level’ soundproofing, head-up display, an elevated seating position for optimal visibility, independent wheel suspension with McPherson front axle with an anti-roll bar and oblique wishbone trailing arms at the rear and variable stiffness springs which varies the damping with the vehicle’s ride height.

On the safety front, the e-Scudo gets front and rear parking sensors with a rear camera, a Grip Control System which offers traction adjustments for snow, mud or sand, and 14 ADAS features which include blind spot alert, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and road sign recognition.

Price

Fiat UK has announced the prices for the e-Scudo 50 kWh Tecnico from GBP 35,720 and for the 75 kWh Business from GBP 43,050 (list price, excluding VAT). Prices for other variants including the various bodystyles should be revealed next year.

2022 Fiat e-Ulysse

Specifications

The e-Ulysse should come in the same 50 kWh standard-range and 75 kWh long-range configurations. The 50 kWh battery pack may offer a WLTP range of up to 225 km (140 miles), and the 70 kWh battery could provide an extended WLTP range of up to approximately 330 km (205 miles). A single motor propelling the front wheels with 100 kW of power and 260 Nm of torque could be standard. The e-Ulysse should see AC charging up to 11 kW, and up to 100 kW DC charging with only 45 minutes needed for a quick charge to 80 per cent.
