Hero Electric subscription plans from INR 2,999 aim faster EV adoption

Hero Electric scooters in India are now available on a subscription basis, thanks to a new partnership formed with Autovert Technologies. Customers can get new Hero electric scooters in India from as low as INR 2,999 per month now. The subscription prices are all-inclusive, meaning that there’s no additional cost for related services such as service, maintenance and insurance. The subscription plans include loyalty bonuses and upgrade options also without any extra cost.

Subscription plans are currently available only in Bengaluru, and at select dealers. A nationwide rollout is planned, though. Hero Electric says that it is trying to offer an EV ownership option that allows more flexibility compared to traditional auto finance with the subscription plans. Autovert Technologies will manage the subscription plans using its IOT-based platform called ‘Autovert Plug’.

Last month, Hero Electric launched the “Clean Air Mission 2020” scheme to encourage customers to switch to electric vehicles with exciting offers that promised free electric scooters to lucky customers.

Under this scheme, Rs 3,000 discount was available for all the electric scooters when booked online and customers stood a chance to win an electric scooter and an electric push scooter. Every 50th customer was going to get their e-scooter for free while 10 lucky customers were going to get a Glyde electric push scooter for free. This offer was valid from 1st June to 20th June and for online bookings only, with a deposit of Rs 2,999. Sales improved thanks to schemes with the company reported to have sold about 5,000 scooters during the lockdown period.

To combat the reducing footfall in showrooms because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Hero Electric now also offers doorstep deliveries of its electric scooters in India. For customers buying low-speed eBikes with online booking, there’s also a 3-day return period available.
