With its neo-retro design, compact dimensions, and off-roader looks, the iCaur V23 appeals to urban drivers with a taste for classic SUV styling and light off-road capability. As per Autocar UK, Chery’s iCaur brand is due to arrive in Britain next year, with the V23 as the inaugural launch.
Well ahead of its British debut, we had a chance to spend some time with the iCaur V23 in a special ‘Brown Edition’ in Asia. Here’s what we found from our experience:
Design
In the flesh, the iCaur V23 Brown Edition looks rugged without seeming aggressive or over-the-top.
A 210 mm ground clearance, boxy silhouette and high-clearance bumpers combine with round headlamps, a raised bonnet with a pronounced power dome, squarish mirrors and windows, and a straight roofline and waistline to deliver a robust stance.
The body is finished primarily in a light-brown tone, with off-white used on the pillars, roof, wheel arches, bumpers, door handles and the tailgate-mounted external storage box for contrast. More than the two-tone paint alone, a distinctive side livery injects a genuine retro character and is central to the Brown Edition’s identity. Steel wheels add to the V23’s authentic vintage-SUV styling.
Interior
Moving to the interior of the iCaur V23 Brown Edition, things get quite interesting. The A-pillar-mounted grab handles, the upright dashboard with vertically arranged outer air vents, round dials, and simple switches, the chunky centre pad in the steering wheel, and the boxy storage spaces in the centre console and door panels all read as deliberately functional.
Unlike the exterior, the interior has no Brown Edition-specific changes. 6-way (driver)/4-way (passenger) electrically adjustable front seats, 50:50-split, flat-folding rear seat, a 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a PM2.5 air filter are some of the key features here.
Specifications
The iCaur V23 Brown Edition has no mechanical changes from the regular model. This means it measures 4,220 mm in length, 1,915 mm in width, and 1,845 mm in height and has a 2,735 mm wheelbase.
iCaur offers the V23 in single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD variants, with a ground clearance of 205 mm in the former, and 210 mm in the latter. The dual-motor AWD variant also boasts a 43-degree approach angle, a 41-degree departure angle, a gradeability of 40%, and a water wading depth of 600 mm, giving it light off-road capability.
Packing up to 335 kW (449 bhp) and up to 490 Nm (361 lb.-ft.) of torque, the off-road SUV accelerates from 0 to 62 mph as quickly as 4.5 seconds and achieves a top speed of up to 106 mph. It is available with multiple battery pack options in LFP and NMC chemistries, and according to CLTC, it can travel up to 342 miles on a full charge.
Release date
The iCaur V23 Brown Edition is unlikely to be offered in the UK, but the regular iCaur V23 could arrive sometime in the first half of 2026. Chery has already established operations in the UK with the Omoda and Jaecoo brands.
