Wilderness & Street-inspired iCaur V23 editions carry custom flair

Chinese automaker Chery’s iCaur brand has been taking every opportunity to showcase the customisation potential of its sub-compact electric SUV, the V23.

Recently, we got up close with two new examples fitted with a host of exterior accessories that give them distinctive styling and far greater road presence.

Wilderness-inspired V23

The first modified iCaur V23 has an earthy green finish that makes it look at home in the wilderness and subtly reinforces its off-road character.

At the front, a bespoke grille consists of four rectangular sections filled with horizontal slats, each bordered above and below by a slim LED strip. Finished in gloss black, the grille flows into matching gloss black headlamp surrounds. A more prominent bumper gives the vehicle a more muscular look.

A prominent raised attachment makes the bonnet look taller and resembles an oversized central air scoop. It incorporates a broad gloss black panel on top and a mesh-trimmed intake-style opening at its leading edge. Gloss black louvred inserts along the bonnet’s outer edges complement this part.

Along the sides, ribbed gloss black cladding extends across the lower body, including the door sills and lower sections of the front quarter panels, with similar inserts appearing at the outer corners of both bumpers.

The mirror caps, vertical front-wing garnishes and wheel-arch extensions also feature a gloss black finish. iCaur has used aftermarket 20-inch wheels featuring a perforated design and a black finish, along with 265/50 R20 Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tyres.

At the rear, a more aggressive bumper combines body-coloured surfaces with gloss black inserts, while a large gloss black twin-wing-style spoiler crowns the tailgate. Unlike the standard V23, this show car also features a roof rack, which adds to its purposeful, adventure-ready appearance.

Street-inspired iCaur V23

The second customised iCaur V23 has fewer modifications and aims for a street-like style. The front end is the same as the standard model, while on the sides, there’s gloss black trim on the wheel arches, the front quarter panels, and the mirrors.

Aftermarket 20-inch wheels in a 10 twin-spoke design and a gloss black finish are wrapped in 265/50 R20 Pirelli Cinturato Rosso tyres on the urban-themed custom iCaur V23.

At the rear, the removable vertical panel above the left-hand tail lamp has been replaced by a display case with a gloss black surround and a Crayon Shin-chan figurine inside.

The upper section of the asymmetrically mounted tailgate storage box incorporates a programmable multicolour pixel display. Together, these playful additions give the white V23 a distinctly cyberpunk-inspired appearance.

The interior design, powertrain, and battery pack of the customised iCaur V23s mirror those of the standard model.

The green unit’s ‘iWD’ badge on the tailgate indicates it is an AWD variant with two motors developing 208 bhp and 215 lb-ft of torque and an 81.76 kWh NMC battery pack. This combination gives the iCaur V23 an NEDC range of 267 miles.

The absence of the same badge on the white unit indicates that it uses a single, rear-mounted motor producing 134 bhp and 133 lb-ft of torque, along with a 59.93 kWh LFP battery pack. This setup allows the iCaur V23 to travel 224 miles on a single charge, also on the NEDC cycle.

iCaur is likely to enter the UK by 2027, and the V23 could be its inaugural launch. The company will likely position the V23 to challenge cars like the Volvo EX30 Cross Country, Jeep Avenger Electric, Kia EV3, and BYD Atto 2.
