Along with the debut of three new versions of the PV5, Kia showcased multiple new customised versions of the electric purpose-built vehicle (PBV) at the recently concluded 2026 Busan Mobility Show.
We checked out some of these customised Kia PV5 units, and two of them that we found particularly interesting were a mobile pet store and a mobile police van.
Kia PV5 Pet Store
The PV5 mobile pet store is based on the Cargo version of the model. Kia developed it in collaboration with a South Korean pet supplies platform called Fitpet. It also utilised the technology of another partner company, K-Van, which specialises in shelves and storage modules. The company sells this racking solution online in South Korea through the Kia Shop.
Kia has painted the PV5 mobile pet store in a bright blue colour, along with gloss black panels around the front, windscreen area, and sides, giving it a dual-tone look. Cartoon-style dog and cat decals on the side panels make the customised PV5 look playful and approachable, and there’s also Fitpet branding here.
Inside, the rear compartment has been turned into a compact retail space. There are separate shelf sections for dog and cat products, along with pet food, treats, and accessories displayed neatly on both sides.
The rear doors also feature pegboard-style racks for smaller items, while a small counter and screen at the front of the cargo area complete the mobile store-like setup.
Kia has not revealed the specifications of the concept, but powering the PV5 mobile pet store is either an 89.4 kW (120 bhp)/250 Nm (184 lb.-ft.) motor paired with a 51.5 kWh NCM battery pack or a 120 kW (161 bhp)/250 Nm motor that draws energy from a 71.2 kWh NCM battery pack.
In the UK, the standard-range PV5 Cargo delivers a WLTP range of 184 miles, and the long-range PV5 Cargo 258 miles.
Kia PV5 Police Van
As for the Kia PV5 police van, the company developed the customised unit in collaboration with the Korean National Police Agency (KNPA). Kia has already delivered a similar unit to the KNPA.
Based on the five-seat PV5 Passenger, it is finished in white with gloss black panels and the agency’s blue-and-yellow police livery. The roof has been heavily modified with a raised equipment module, high-mounted patrol lights, three 4K AI cameras, and a drone station for surveillance duties.
Inside, the rear section has been converted into a mobile command space, featuring a workstation with a chair, keyboard, and four monitors for live camera feeds, mapping, and other police operations.
Powering the PV5 police van is a 120 kW (161 bhp)/250 Nm motor, which relies on a 71.2 kWh NCM battery pack. In the regular PV5, this setup delivers a WLTP range of 256 miles.
Kia could collaborate on a similar van for Korean law enforcement based on the PV7 which is expected next year.
