First Look Review: Leapmotor B03X could be the value king of B-segment SUVs

Update (10 May 2026): ‘Price & Release Date’ section revised.

Leapmotor unveiled the B03X at a dedicated preview event in Guangzhou, China, late last year. The model is known as the A10 in Leapmotor’s domestic Chinese market, and has been confirmed for the UK in the second half of the year, where it will be positioned above the entry-level T03.

We spent some time with the Leapmotor B03X, and here’s what we think about its design, styling, and general presence.

Design

Seeing it in person, the Leapmotor B03X looks planted and wide-shouldered, with flared wheel arches, side body cladding, and a high beltline. There’s nothing especially rugged or sophisticated about this vehicle, and it takes on a smooth, rounded surfacing. The dark housing of the headlights reveal a unique smiley signature, and the rear lights look like they’re laughing out loud!

Exterior features that we noted include 18-inch alloy wheels, semi-hidden door handles, and a floating roof effect. The roofline stays relatively flat to maximise boot space and rear passenger comfort. Buyers will be offered six colour options in global markets.

Interior

Interior details are limited at this stage, but Leapmotor describes a cabin focused on space efficiency and everyday usability, thanks to the dedicated EV platform. The company also claims “premium materials” and an ergonomics-led layout, and has confirmed a panoramic glass roof.

Going by our experience with the B10 and C10 SUVs, we don’t expect too many physical controls. Seats should be wide and comfy, with rear passengers enjoying a flat floor. Other details should include practical armrests, conventional door release handles, and a chunky steering wheel.

Specifications

The B03X is the first vehicle developed on Leapmotor’s new global A platform. When it reaches the UK market, it will be positioned as a compact SUV focused on driver assistance tech and connected features.

The B03X should be ideal for daily commutes to school and work. It could work out as the first EV for buyers in the British market who are upgrading from petrol hatchbacks.

It measures 165.4 in (4,200 mm) in length, 70.9 in (1,800 mm) in width, and 63.0 in (1,600 mm) in height. Wheelbase exceeds 102.4 in (2,600 mm).

The B03X will offer door-to-door advanced driver assistance, an AI-powered cockpit, and over-the-air updates for vehicle systems. Range is quoted at up to 310.7 miles (500 km) on the CLTC cycle, with energy stored in an LFP battery pack.

Later this year, we will launch the B05, a family-focused hatch, and the B03X, a compact SUV.

Leapmotor classifies the B03X as a B-segment SUV. In the brand’s UK line-up, it will sit below the recently launched B10. We expect a retail price starting at around GBP 25,000 when it comes out in the second half of the year, competing with the Ford Puma Gen-E, Renault 4, and the upcoming VW ID.2 X and Kia EV2.
