First Look Review: UK-bound Lepas L6 EV looks (and feels) desirable

Update: Specifications & Release Date sections revised.

In addition to the L8 mid-size SUV, Lepas has confirmed plans to bring its L6 compact SUV to the UK this year.

Months ahead of its UK launch, we had a chance to experience the fully-electric variant of the Lepas L6 in a global specification, and here are some interesting observations we made:

Design

Lepas L6 front three quarter

The Lepas L6 EV adopts a conventional crossover silhouette with familiar proportions and widely used design themes. At the front, the Lepas L6 features a sloping bonnet with subtle raised creases, slim headlamps with integrated L-shaped DRLs, and a closed-off nose section.

The bumper incorporates large, angular side intakes and a lower central intake with an A-shaped outline.

On the sides, the L6 EV features smooth, rounded surfacing with minimal character lines. The profile includes a gently sloping roofline, low-profile roof rails, a high-set beltline, and a curved greenhouse. It rides on 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels fitted with 225/55 R19 Kumho Ecsta tyres. Black cladding around the wheel arches and lower body adds contrast.

At the rear, the roof spoiler incorporates a split high-mounted stop lamp. The tailgate features clean surfacing and integrates a full-width tail light. The number plate recess is positioned on the bumper, leaving the tailgate uncluttered.

Interior

The interior of the Lepas L6 EV incorporates a minimalist theme and has some decor elements aimed at giving the cabin a more upmarket look.

The dashboard has a slim profile and seamlessly blends with the front door panels and centre console. The wood-look trim on the dashboard and centre console is just plastic.

A portrait-oriented central touchscreen is mounted in a floating-style housing. Below it sits a slim row of physical buttons for key functions, including drive mode selection, climate control, the defogger, and hazard warning lights. The instrument cluster is a slim, horizontal display positioned on top of the dashboard without a binnacle.

Experience in the Lepas L6 EV

Lepas L6 front seats

At 5’7″, ingress and egress in the Lepas L6 EV were easy for me. From the driver’s seat, visibility is good in all directions. The front seats offer around five inches of headroom. Under-thigh support is adequate, while back and shoulder support are acceptable. The cabin uses a noticeable amount of hard plastic at key touchpoints.

In the rear, too, the L6 EV does not pose any challenges with ingress or egress. Headroom is again around five inches. Under-thigh support is average, and the seat base could be longer. Back and shoulder support are adequate.

Lepas L6 centre console

The rear seat does not recline, but the default angle is acceptable. With the front seat set to my driving posture, knee room measures about six and a half inches, and there is enough space to slide feet under the front seats.

The floor is flat, which allows usable legroom for a centre passenger. Two seatback pockets, two bottle holders, two AC vents, two USB ports (one Type-A and one Type-C), and a fold-down centre armrest complete the rear features.

Specifications

In the global specification, the Lepas L6 EV measures 4,570 mm in length, 1,852 mm in width, and 1,683 mm in height and has a 2,700 mm wheelbase. It is powered by a single motor that produces 178 kW and 275 Nm of torque. A 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) sprint takes 7.9 seconds.

A 67.08 kWh LFP battery pack powers the motor, and it can be charged at up to 120 kW (DC),
with a 30-80% charging session possible in as quickly as 20 minutes. Lepas has now
confirmed a WLTC-certified range of 270 miles (435 km) for the European-spec L6 BEV.

Lepas L6 front

Alongside the fully-electric version, Lepas has also confirmed an L6 Super Hybrid for the UK market. The self-charging hybrid combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor and battery pack to deliver a claimed total driving range of over 700 miles. Both variants are underpinned by Chery International’s new NEV modular platform.

Release Date

Lepas has officially confirmed that both the L6 BEV and L6 Super Hybrid will launch in the UK in Q4 2026.
