Is the Mahindra Funster India’s most audacious concept car? [Video]

Mahindra has taken the wraps off the Mahindra Funster concept, a hard-top convertible, at the Auto Expo 2020. The Funster is a convertible electric SUV concept and is part of Mahindra’s 18-car line-up at the expo. Below is a quick walkaround of the car that captures all the design details on video.

The Funster concept (carrying the motto ‘Rev up the fun’) has been designed by Mahindra Design Studio and looks like the designers were given a free hand to come up with this cool concept taking inspiration from rising sports culture such as Athleisure fashion, designer sports wear and performance sneakers. The company says young consumers wish to have a differentiated sports lifestyle which is the touchstone of this concept. The adjectives describing the concept are agile, energetic, lively, dynamic, leisure and free-spirited.

Futuristic front end, radical roadster body, scissor type doors, triple barrel headlamps, inverted L-shaped LED DRL at the front, floating LED tail lamps, extruded taillights, U-shaped steering wheel, wide digital cockpit in a combined design, piano-type keys, alcantara upholstery, digital dual-zone climate control, closed-off wheels, bonnet vents, sporty wheel arches and quirky interiors all make the Funster a futuristic concept. The interior is in a 2+2 ‘athleisure inspired’ design, and Mahindra says the exterior is a harmony between sportiness and clean performance.

According to Mahindra, the Funster is fitted with a 59.1 kWh battery pack that makes a maximum power of 313 hp and has a top speed of 200 km/h. The concept SUV can go from 0 to 100 km/h in under 5 seconds and returns a claimed range of 520 km. The concept is fitted with dual electric motors and a full-time AWD system.
