Mahindra Treo Zor export markets could include European countries and Japan

The recently launched Mahindra Treo Zor was first showcased at Auto Expo 2020, and it has caught the attention of companies in foreign markets. Japanese and European companies have shown interest in importing the low cost electric cargo three-wheeler following the teasers that were played on social media in the week prior to the launch.

In fact the comprehensive coverage of ElectricVehicleWeb.in on the Treo series since the unveiling the upgraded Mahindra three wheelers at the Auto Expo has registered views from not just this country. The stories on the Mahindra Treo and Treo Zor were high up on social media and search engine results for the related terms.

Right after the launch of the Mahindra Treo Zor on 29 October 2020, Mahesh Babu, Managing Director, Mahindra Electric, was part of a virtual discussion with the media. During the interaction, he talked about the export potential of the Mahindra Electric model. He said:

While we have made this also to meet retail demand, it is very specifically designed to meet e-commerce demand. We are in touch with many of them, and you will hear when we jointly announce. Inquiries have also come in for these vehicles from Europe and Japan, but India remains the focus market.

Mahindra Electric plans to sell the Treo Zor in India from December this year through the Mahindra small commercial vehicle dealerships in select cities. Before commencing exports, the company may work on expanding its availability in the domestic market next year. Mahesh Babu said that unlike the Treo auto, there is no limitation of permits for the load carrier which could help it scale up presence quickly.

The Mahindra Treo Zor will come in three variants, namely Pickup, Delivery Van and Flat Bed. Its motor generates 8 kW of power and 42 Nm of torque. Its payload capacity is 550 kg, which is the highest among electric three-wheelers in India. On a full charge, it can go up to 125 km.

Mahindra Electric has priced the Mahindra Treo Zor from INR 2.73 lakh*, and it offers a three-year/80,000 km standard warranty on it.
