Launched at an inaugural price of Rs. 13,48,800 (ex-showroom, New Delhi), the 6-seater interior layout and the panoramic sunroof are the variant’s feature highlights. A booking is made via the mobile app, the company website or any MG dealership. MG says the inaugural price holds until August 13 following which it will be hiked by Rs 50,000.

With captain seats in the middle row, the 6-seater SUV is further distinguished from the regular Hector by dual-tone Smoked Sepia Brown interiors, sharper headlamps, new bumpers with revised skid plates, a new chrome-studded grille, and a ‘Chit-Chat’ feature on the i-SMART interface.

While it maintains the same body height (1,760 mm), width (1,835 mm) and wheelbase (2,750 mm) of the Hector, the Plus is longer by 65 mm with a length of 4,720 mm, thanks to a new bumper. The engine line-up is the same as that of the Hector – a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine (143 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque) and a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine (170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque). While the petrol engine is available with a dual-clutch automatic transmission, the diesel engine comes with a 6-speed manual transmission. The Hector Plus is further available with a 48 V mild hybrid system along with the petrol engine, and this variant gets a 6-speed manual transmission only. It is priced at Rs 17.29 lakh (ex-showroom).

On the design, the Hector Plus gets a tweaked front end with different DRLs, more prominent grille, and a new front bumper with headlamp design. Features of the Hector Plus include LED headlamps, DRLs and tail lamps, dual-tone machined alloy wheels, smart swipe auto tailgate, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and a panoramic sunroof. Inside, the car gets a 7-inch MID, 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, 6-way power-adjustable driver seat and 4-way adjustable co-driver seat, 8-colour ambient lighting, new Smoked Sepia brown leather upholstery, 360-degree camera view and i-Smart connected features.

MG has appended a new colour for the Hector Plus with the Starry Sky Blue apart from five other colours that are already on offer.

MG Motor India has partnered with CarDekho for an optional buyback plan which promises a residual value of 60 per cent after three years of ownership under the ‘3-60’ plan.

The Hector Plus comes with MG Shield and the MG Shield+, the former referring to the Free-three’ 5s’, i.e. 5-year/unlimited km warranty, 5-year Roadside Assistance, and Free Labour Charges for the first five services. The 6-seater SUV’s Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), says MG, is among the least in the segment at 45 paise/km for petrol variants and 60 paise/km for the diesel variants (calculated up to 100,000 km of usage). Prepaid maintenance plans start at Rs 8,000 for three years with its Classic package.

The ‘Shield+’ covers the aspects of sanitisation and contactless ownership experience. Digital Scheduling and Online Booking, MGCARE@Home, and Over-The-Air updates are some of the features. The company has also introduced the MG V PHY, a contactless audio-guided product feature demonstration at dealer showrooms while practising social distancing. Through MG’s association with Medklinn, buyers can also avail Cerafusion technology for in-car sterilisation.
