A month after announcing the MG Reassure pre-owned vehicle unit, from which one can buy used MG ZS EV, MG has announced the second round of expanded availability of the new electric car. The company has launched the MG ZS EV in 10 new cities in India.
MG ZS EV availability
The MG ZS EV was available in Delhi/NCR, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad initially. In June, the MG ZS EV became available in 6 more cities in India – Pune, Surat, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Chennai and Cochin. In all, were 11 cities in India where the all-electric SUV has been available since then. Now, it’s available in 10 new cities, which takes the count to 21 cities. Along with announcing the expanded availability in June, MG had introduced a contact-free technology suite ‘Shield+’ and new sanitisation processes. It had tied up with Medklinn’s Cerafusion sterilisation technology for the sterilisation of vehicle cabins.
Used MG ZS EV in India
Thanks to a new ‘MG Reassure’ pre-owned vehicle unit, customers can now purchase used MG ZS EV from MG. Under MG Reassure, MG acquires used MG ZS EV. These pre-owned units will go through various checks and get the necessary repairs. After that, customers looking for a used MG ZS EV can buy them directly from the company.
MG says that a customer can sell his/her MG ZS EV via MG Reassure without having to purchase a new MG vehicle. In other words, this is not an exchange programme. Then, the vehicle will go through more than 160 quality checks and the company will repair it if required before putting it on sale. Every used MG ZS EV in India will come with 3 years/unlimited km warranty, 3 years roadside assistance and 3 free services.
MG ZS EV Price
MG surprised everyone with the launch of MG ZS EV priced from Rs 20.88 lakh ex-showroom New Delhi in January. The ZS EV is available in two variants – ZS EV Excite priced at Rs 20.88 lakh and ZS EV Exclusive at Rs 23.58 lakh ex-showroom New Delhi. Deliveries for ZS EV began in all the five first cities in January.
Those who booked the electric SUV on or before 17 January 2020 got to pay Rs 1 lakh less as a special introductory price. For a hassle-free ownership experience, the company launched MG eShield, a free-of-charge 5-year manufacturer warranty for unlimited kilometres on the car and 8 years/150,000 km warranty on the battery. MG Motor also offers 24×7 roadside assistance (RSA) for 5 years along with 5 labour-free services.
Powering the ZS EV is a 44.5 kWh battery pack driving a front-mounted electric motor. With a power output of 105 kW and 353 Nm of instant torque, ZS EV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.5 seconds on to a top speed of 140 km/h. The battery has a range of 340 km/charge and can be charged up to 80% in 50 minutes through a 50 kW fast charger installed at MG dealers.
The Excite variant is equipped with automatic projector headlamps with LED DRLs, keyless entry, 17-inch alloy wheels, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment, tyre pressure monitoring system and electronic parking brake. The Exclusive variant offers power-adjustable driver’s seat, PM 2.5 filter in the cabin, panoramic sunroof and rain-sensing wipers. Six airbags, ABS, ESC, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, rear parking camera and sensors come as standard.
MG Motor is claiming that the ZS EV comes at a running cost of under Rs 1 per km calculated up to 100,000 kilometres with preventive maintenance including parts, consumables, labour and taxes and as of January 2020 electricity rates in Delhi-NCR.
MG Motor India has installed DC chargers at its dealerships to overcome customers’ range anxiety issues. The carmaker has partnered with Fortum Charge & Drive India to set up 50 kW DC super-fast charging stations at MG showrooms in the cities that it has launched the car in. It offers an onboard cable with ZS EV and customers can also get an AC fast charger installed at their homes/offices, free of cost, done by Delhi-based eChargeBays.
