Leapmotor used the auto expo in Hong Kong to showcase a modified version of the B03X, providing us with a look at how the compact electric SUV can be personalised beyond the standard production model.
While the vehicle is sold as the A10 in China, it will be marketed as the B03X in the UK and other export markets. It joins the British line-up in the second half of the year.
Getting up close with the vehicle, we observed that it retains the standard B03X body but adds several cosmetic upgrades, starting with the smoked headlamps. The front bumper features a gloss black splitter, while matching side skirts and a rear diffuser give the SUV a lower visual stance.
The roof, mirror caps and lower bumper trim are also finished in gloss black, and the modifications are purely visual. Unlike the standard B03X, the customised version also features contrasting black exterior trim and badges throughout.
The show car wears a special matt silver exterior finish with blue and green graphics inspired by battery cells running along the doors and rear quarter panels. Large aero-style wheel covers replace the standard alloy wheel design, while the rear retains the production LED tail-lamps and roof spoiler.
Inside, the layout remains unchanged. The cabin features an 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch 2.5K touchscreen powered by Leapmotor’s latest cockpit system. Other features include wireless smartphone charging, dual cup holders, a column-mounted gear selector and the AI voice assistant.
Mechanically, the show car is identical to the standard variant. It uses a 90 kW front-mounted electric motor and is available with two battery options: a 39.8 kWh pack offering 403 km (CLTC) of range and a 53 kWh battery providing 505 km (CLTC). A 30-80% DC fast charge takes 16 minutes.
The B03X is expected to play an important role in Leapmotor’s expansion plans, and is also set to spawn a Hongqi model this year. In Britain, the B03X will sit below the recently launched B10 in the brand’s growing line-up, which also gets the B05 hatchback.
We expect prices in the UK to start at around GBP 25,000, placing the B03X against models such as the Renault 4 E-Tech, Ford Puma Gen-E and the upcoming Kia EV2.
