Okaya Power installs more than 500 EV chargers in India

Battery manufacturer Okaya Power also has an EV charging infrastructure business. The company has installed more than 500 EV chargers in India, says a new report from energy.economictimes.indiatimes.com.

EV charging infrastructure is proving to be a big business for Okaya Power. While the installation of 500+ EV chargers across India is complete, the company is sitting on orders of more than 10,000 EV chargers nationwide. The company’s EV charging solutions include compact AC chargers for use at homes, offices and other locations for personal use and high-capacity AC/DC chargers for commercial use. It makes AC wallbox chargers for personal use as well, which are not compact but offer charging at much higher power outputs.

Anshul Gupta, Director, Okaya Power, talked about the company’s EV charging infrastructure business at the World Energy Storage Day Global Conference on 22 September:

It is a very interesting journey for us for the last three years. Right from the R&D stage to development and deployment, we have supplied around 503 chargers – the big ones, DC001 and 142 kW chargers – and we have secured orders from PSU segment for around 7,000 chargers.

Okaya Power has partnered with real estate developers like M3M and ATS to install and commission 6,000 EV chargers across properties in the next one and a half years.

Okaya Power’s EV chargers offer charging at a peak power of between 3.5 kW to 80 kW. A portable EV charger for personal use offers AC regular charging at the lowest, 3.5 kW, while a single-gun EV charger for commercial use offers DC fast-charging at the highest, 80 kW.
