Peugeot e-Boxer hits UK showrooms in a few weeks

Joining the range of e-LCV vans in the UK is the new Peugeot e-Boxer LCV, a fully electric van that continues with the company’s electrification strategy of at least one EV variant across all its vehicles by 2025.

The e-Boxer will be exclusively available in only the Professional trims. However, modifications within those are still possible.

Design & Variants

The e-Boxer is a large van, and hence there are no significant changes in terms of the silhouette. The front features a large windshield, sleek headlamps and a large blacked-out bumper. The e-Boxer will get three body styles and three length options.

The e-Boxer will be available in Panel Van, Window Van and Chassis Cab options and lengthwise comprises of the L2 (5,413 mm), L3 (5,998 mm) and L4 (6,363 mm) options. The battery pack is located underneath the vehicle’s floor, thereby causing no problems when it comes to practicality. The e-Boxer is capable of a maximum volume of 15 cubic metres and a maximum payload of 1,150 kg. The internal width of the Panel Van configuration measures 1.87 m.

Powertrain

Like we mentioned earlier, the e-Boxer is available in three length options. This also decides between the two battery capacity options available. The L2 variant features the smaller battery, a 37 kWh unit, while the L3 and L4 options feature the larger 70 kWh pack. Both batteries, however, power the same 90 kW electric motor that churns out 350 Nm of torque. In terms of range, the 37 kWh option can travel up to 73 miles, certified by WLTP, on a full charge. The 70 kWh option, on the other hand, is capable of a WLTP certified range of 139 miles.

Charging

The e-Boxer, as standard, comes with a 22 kW Mode 3 Type 2 Charging Cable. This is compatible with both single as well as three-phase wallboxes. According to the press release issued by the company, a 7.4 kW single-phase wallbox can fully charge the 37 kWh battery pack in just about six hours and the 70 kWh battery pack in 12 hours. The EV also supports 50 kW rapid charging giving a 0-80 per cent charge in just one hour.

Features

As for features, the Puegeot e-Boxer is available in only one premium trim and, as such, gets interior tech such as a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bluetooth, DAB radio, satellite navigation and an interior rear-view mirror that also displays vehicle information to the driver.

Peugeot e-Boxer Price

The Peugeot e-Boxer starts at GBP 49,335. This is the price after the Plug-in Van Grant but excludes VAT. The press release also states that the buyers of Peugeot’s full electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles are also eligible for a free six-month subscription to the UK’s largest public charging network, BP Pulse. Another point the press release makes is that due to the full-electric nature of the e-Boxer’s powertrain, the van is exempt from congestion charge or Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) payment, allowing for further savings for customers.
