The Renault 4 E-Tech electric Plein Sud expands the electric crossover range with a new opening canvas roof option inspired by the classic Renault 4 Plein Air.
We experienced the new model at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026, where it was featured alongside the Renault 5 Turbo 3E and the upcoming Renault Twingo E-Tech electric.
Large canvas roof

The Plein Sud version replaces the fixed roof with a electrically operated black canvas roof measuring 92 cm long and 80 cm wide. It can be opened using a button on the key fob, a switch near the rear-view mirror or voice control through Renault’s Reno avatar, while Renault says the design preserves cabin space.

Developed with partners Webasto and Haartz, the roof features a lined fabric construction to improve acoustic insulation when closed. Plastic structural components and a three-fold canvas design also help reduce weight, while a wind deflector lowers cabin noise when the roof is open.
Trims

The Renault 4 E-Tech electric Plein Sud is available in Techno and Iconic trims, with prices starting from €37,290 and €39,290 respectively, before incentives depending on the market. Initially offered in Starry Black, additional exterior colours will be introduced later.
Additions & Improvements
At the same time, Renault has updated the wider Renault 4 E-Tech electric range with new features.

Renault has also improved charging performance in cold weather by introducing a new water-to-water heat exchanger for the battery heating circuit.
Using the route planner to pre-condition the battery, charging from 15-80% now takes around 50 minutes instead of one hour at 0°C, with further reductions possible after longer journeys.
An advanced driver monitoring system, emergency stop assist and a predictive eco-driving assistant have been added, increasing the total number of driver assistance systems to 28. Customers also receive a new connected data package on eligible finance agreements.
