Revolt Motors considering South India for its second electric vehicle factory

Revolt Motors is planning its second electric vehicle factory and is already in talks to set up the factory in South India, reports Financial Express. Revolt currently has a manufacturing facility in Manesar, which has an annual production capacity of 1.2 lakh units and is part of the INR 400-500 crore investment the company has made in India.

In conversation with Financial Express, the company’s Founder, Mr Rahul Sharma has said that Revolt is engaging with governments in South India to build the second plant. Revolt has been receiving tremendous response in the cities of Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Chennai, where the brand recently launched dealerships in. The company has claimed that it has sold all the motorbikes in these cities from the first batch.

In an interaction with EVW at the launch of the Chennai dealership, Sharma said the second facility could “likely” come up in South India, and that the company is working on new products at the Manesar studio. The company’s top electric vehicle startup, Ather Energy, is building scooters in Bengaluru and will soon begin operations at the second site in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.

Right from its introduction period last year, Revolt electric motorcycles have been sold to customers on a subscription service with a monthly plan. Customers don’t have to make initial down payment or full payment to get the bike but pay Rs 2,999 and Rs 3,999 for RV300 and RV400 respectively every month through the MyRevolt plan.

Mr Sharma has also confirmed that Revolt will open dealerships in all the top cities of the country by this year and will be covering Tier II and Tier III cities by the end of 2021.

To enhance ownership experience, Revolt has extended its free Battery Switching service till March 31st 2020. Through this service, Revolt customers can swap their depleted batteries for fully charged units at any Revolt Switch station. In Chennai, the service will be free for the first three months.
