Special ‘NC1000’ badge on N. Chandrasekaran’s Tata Nexon EV

On the auspicious Day of Ganesh Chaturthi, Tata Motors delivered its first electric SUV, the Tata Nexon EV to Mr. N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons & Tata Motors and his wife Ms. Lalitha Chandrasekaran. The car was delivered the same the week as the 1000th Nexon EV drove off the company’s Pune production line.

Chandrasekaran’s Tata Nexon EV, the top-spec XZ Lux+ in the Glacier White body colour, features an electric sunroof. Its other exclusive features include the premium leatherette seat upholstery, auto headlights, rain-sensing wipers and leatherette door trims. These come at a price premium of Rs. 1 lakh above the XZ+ grade. When compared to the entry-level, XM grade, the XZ+ Lux is Rs. 2 lakh more expensive at Rs 15.99 lakh.

The Tata Nexon EV is India’s most affordable electric SUV and is sold across 60 dealerships in 22 cities. The e-SUV features a 30.2 kWh battery that is wired to a permanent magnet synchronous motor that produces a torque of 245 Nm. The Nexon EV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds. Using a regular charger, it takes 8 hours to be fully charged while at a fast charger, the wait is reduced to 60 minutes. On a single charge, the Nexon achieves a range of 312 km (ARAI-certified).

On receiving the key, Chandrasekharan said:

Tata Motors’ next electric car is the Tata Altroz EV which comes out in 2021, with a price lower than that of the Nexon.
