The Mercedes V-Class has long ruled the executive MPV segment globally, but the new Zeekr 009 attempts to redefine the space in many ways.
Zeekr’s UK Launch
Zeekr plans to expand into more European markets in 2026, including the UK, while also evaluating plug-in hybrid models for the region, according to a report published on 9 January 2026.
Speaking to Reuters at the Brussels Motor Show, Zeekr’s acting head of European operations, Lothar Schupet, said the brand aims to become “a major player in the premium segment for sustainable mobility.”
The Reuters report also noted that Zeekr plans to more than triple its dealer network in Europe this year. With the UK under consideration as part of the company’s wider expansion plans, we got up close with the all-electric 009 to understand whether it could carve out a space for itself here. Here are our first impressions of a global-spec 009:
Design
The Zeekr 009 has a traditional MPV silhouette aimed at maximising space, but its design still stands out, albeit in a polarising way. Its bold and imposing front carries a noticeably large faux grille with vertical chrome fins, which continue further below, partly into the functional grille.
The split headlamp setup with inverted U-shaped DRLs at the top and a simple horizontal main light housing lends the 009 a distinctive look, but it lacks the elegance and visual sophistication expected of a vehicle in this class.
The side profile of the 009 conveys a clear sense of grandeur, defined by its elongated body, electrically sliding rear doors, Starlight wheels available in 19- and 20-inch sizes, and generous chrome accents along the cantrails, greenhouse, and rocker panels. At the rear, a 1.47-metre tail light bar stretches across the width, aiming to lend the MPV a high-tech look.
Interior
Inside, the Zeekr 009 adopts a modern, lounge-like layout with a strong emphasis on width and horizontal continuity.
The dashboard is low and broad, wrapped in soft-touch materials and stitched upholstery, which helps reduce the sense of bulk from the vehicle’s tall body. A wide trim insert runs across the fascia, visually linking the door panels and reinforcing the cabin’s premium intent.
A freestanding 15.05-inch 2.5K OLED central touchscreen sits prominently on the dashboard, handling most infotainment and vehicle functions.
Ahead of the driver is a 10.25-inch full HD LCD instrument cluster integrated neatly into the fascia, along with an AR-HUD with a 35.95-inch projection area, 1,280 x 640 resolution, and 1,200 nits brightness. The flattened top and bottom sections of the steering wheel feel somewhat unnecessary in a vehicle that prioritises comfort and refinement over any sporting intent.

A roof-mounted 17.3-inch 3K OLED display keeps the rear passengers entertained. The captain’s chairs in the second row offer power adjustment, massage, and ventilation functions, and heating for the backrest, cushion, and leg rest.
Even the footrest for these seats comes with heating. Passengers can electrically slide the second-row seats on a 1.1-metre rail to enter or exit the third row conveniently.
Specifications
In China, Zeekr’s home market, the 009 is available in single-motor FWD and dual-motor AWD variants. Both have a 2+2+3 seating layout as standard, but a 2+2+2 option is available in the latter.
The single-motor FWD variant packs 310 kW (416 bhp) and 440 Nm (325 lb.-ft.) of torque, takes 6.9 seconds for a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint, and achieves a top speed of 230 km/h (143 mph). It has a 108 kWh NMC battery pack that delivers a CLTC range of 740 kilometres (460 miles).
The dual-motor AWD variant, with 580 kW (777 bhp) and 810 Nm (597 lb.-ft.) of torque, cuts the 0-100 km/h acceleration time to 3.9 seconds but maxes out at the same 230 km/h (143 mph). It also has a 108 kWh NMC battery pack, but the higher outputs and weight reduce the CLTC range to 702 kilometres (436 miles).
Since it uses an updated 800V platform, the 009 can charge from 10% to 80% in 11.5 minutes in ideal conditions.
