A new report says that the Renault Kwid EV launch in India has been delayed. India probably won’t get the Kwid EV before 2022.
The Renault Kwid-based Dongfeng EX1 EV was expected to get a special edition this year. Instead, it has been given a minor refresh. Here is the new EV in detail.
We caught up with Iype Koshi, Chairman and Managing Director at HyMotiv Private Limited, and here’s what he told us about the Kwid hybrid project:
Renault Group has announced that it will withdraw from the ICE passenger car business in China and will concentrate on EV segment, with the Renault City K-ZE a.k.a Kwid Electric leading the charge.
Renault India is not looking at importing electric vehicles or CKD packs of electric vehicles like the Zoe, Kangoo or the upcoming Twingo electric to rush into the EV segment.
Mamillapalle did not speak on the model identified for India, but it could very well be that the Renault Kwid electric, that is sold in China as the Renault City K-ZE, is the model in question.
