Ford E-Transit will let drivers pair work & personal devices in parallel

The Ford E-Transit made its first public debut at the CV Show 2021 in the UK. A press release by Ford states that the new commercial vehicle will offer businesses a new benchmark in EV productivity while confirming a market launch in Spring 2022.

Design

There is very little to differentiate the E-Transit from the standard ICE version. It gets the same grille save for blue accents and an ‘E-Transit’ badge on the rear door. The charging flap is housed in the grille. According to the press release, the E-Transit will be available in 25 different variants, including multiple lengths, battery options, roof heights and body styles.

Powertrain

The E-Transit, at launch, will be available with a single electric motor capable of an output choice between 135 kW and 198 kW of power and 430Nm of torque. Powering this is a 68 kWh battery pack capable of a WLTP certified range of 317 km.

Charging

According to Ford, the E-Transit can be charged using a 115 kW DC fast-charger capable of taking the vehicle from 15 per cent to 80 per cent in just 34 minutes. Additionally, Ford Wallbox supplying 230-volt 16 A 3-phase AC electricity will fully charge the E-Transit in eight hours. Ford Telematics will allow fleets to manage to charge through the Ford charging network seamlessly. It will also allow for reimbursements to be made to employees charging their E-Transits from home.
