4 things you should know about the Kia Soul EV ‘Maxx’

The Kia Soul EV ‘Maxx’ was announced for the UK on August 20 and comes essentially as the replacement to the First Edition. It gets a lot of the same features as the First Edition including the 17-inch alloys, black leather upholstery and the others. The Soul EV is not the most popular choice for EV customers in the UK and in 2021 alone, Kia has sold about 900 units so far. With the Maxx, Kia will hope to renew interest in the EV with the British public.

Replaces the Kia Soul EV First Edition

The Kia Soul EV First Edition opened for orders on July 5, 2019, priced at GBP 37,295 on-the-road which comes down to GBP 33,795 after the government grant. The First Edition was the fully-specced Soul EV complete with a premium 10-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system, 10.25-inch infotainment system with both, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard, head-up display, dual-LED headlamps and a number of other features.

The ‘Maxx’ features the new Kia logo on the exterior and interior. 17-inch alloy wheels, black leather upholstery, heated steering wheel and front seats, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto round up the main equipment.

64 kWh battery

The Kia Soul EV ‘Maxx’ is powered by a 64 kWh battery that supplies energy to a front-wheel-drive 201 bhp/395 Nm electric motor. This allows for a WLTP certified range of up to 280 miles on a single charge. The Soul EV ‘Maxx’ does come with 100 kW charging allowing for a 0-80 per cent charge in just 54 minutes. From a 7.2 kWh home wall box, on the other hand, a 0-100 per cent charge can be attained in 9 hours and 35 minutes.
